The Department of Social Policy and Intervention, University of Oxford is offering graduate scholarships for students wishing to pursue doctoral – PhD – studies in an international and interdisciplinary centre of excellence in social policy as well as social intervention and evaluation research. It has been ranked first among UK social policy departments, and third worldwide.
For our 3-year doctoral (DPhil) programmes in social policy and in social intervention, we seek candidates for the following scholarships with entry in October 2020:
· The Barnett Scholarship
· The Barnett-House-Nuffield College Joint Scholarship
. The Centenary Scholarship
In addition, all applicants applying by the January deadline will be considered for the University’s flagship Clarendon Scholarship Fund. The Department also regularly wins prestigious ESRC scholarships through the Grand Union Doctoral Training Partnership.
Doctoral students are part of our two research clusters – the Oxford Institute of Social Policy (OISP) and the Centre for Evidence-Based Intervention (CEBI) – that conduct cutting-edge research in a wide range of areas (see http://www.spi.ox.ac.uk/research).
OISP is inviting DPhil proposals in the following broad topics: family and family policies, educational inequalities and educational policies, economic and social inequalities, poverty and social exclusion, social mobility and inequality of opportunity, labour market institutions and policies, retirement age policies, public attitudes on welfare state issues, welfare state changes in comparative perspective and the politics of social policy.
CEBI is inviting DPhil proposals in the following areas: evaluation methodology in social intervention; policy evaluation and effectiveness of policies; violence prevention, drug misuse; child mental health; antisocial behaviour in children and youth; perinatal, parenting and family interventions; HIV prevention; AIDS affected children; violence against children; cross-cultural adaptation of interventions and evidence synthesis.
