Inequality and prosperity in the industrialized world

A new report from Professor Brian Nolan and his team looks at the growth of economic inequality in the industrialised world.

Part of the Citi Global Perspectives and Solutions series, Nolan et al's report suggests that:

"inequality is not beyond our control. Institutional or policy changes can fundamentally transform the effects broader factors have on income distribution. Reform is achievable, but requires a strong understanding of these interactions and the complex feedback processes different changes have."

The report charts the evolution of income and wealth inequality across countries and over time; it presents the various potential drivers of rising inequality in recent decades and the connections between them; it explores potential major implications of rising inequality.

This report is the first output of the Inequality and Prosperity programme.
