The Oxford Blue Plaque Society has recently agreed that Violet Butler should be honoured with a blue plaque in recognition of her as an outstanding member of the ' North Oxford milieu of progressive thinkers and social reformers'. Butler was a key figure in the development of Barnett House, which we now know as the Department of Social Policy and Intervention.
Associate Fellow Dr Elizabeth Peretz recently gave a seminar on Butler, and you can read a version of this presentation here. You may also like to listen to a podcast about her in the Women in Oxford's History series.
