Cheng Zhang is a first-year student reading for an MPhil in Comparative Social Policy. Before coming to Oxford, he worked as an outreach coordinator at New York City Office of Emergency Management. He also worked for the New York City Department of Education, China Central Television and Ministry of Civil Affairs of China for several years. He holds a Masters of Science in Policy Practice from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Law in International Politics.
His current research interests include: urban poverty in the developing world, with a focus on Asia, policy changes concerning internal migrants in China, and the role of civil society in the distribution of social benefits.
