Justin Daniel Pereira completed his undergraduate studies in Sociology at the National University of Singapore. During his time as a student, he was also an NUS University Scholar from the University Scholars Programme. His research interests are in educational trajectories, state-societal relations, educational futures, education equity, inequality, elite formation, the policy-making process, the limitations of comparative policy borrowing, and the implications of policy implementation to societies, amongst others.
Before joining Oxford, Justin was a junior researcher at The HEAD Foundation, a non-profit education think tank for human capital development in Asia. His work there involved studying issues of equity, access, and the quality of education. Prior to that, he focused on themes such as school improvement, educational leadership, and thinking about teacher quality.
Justin is also interested in Futures Thinking, and he is keen in developing skills to be a scholar-practitioner, bridging the gap between academia and policy with a purpose to make a contribution to social development
