Estefanía is a Colfuturo Scholar from Colombia reading for the M.Sc. in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation. Prior to coming to Oxford, she worked for the National Planning Department in Colombia designing instruments to measure the use of evidence in decision making, public servants’ digital skills, and the quality of administrative databases. She designed strategies and policies to promote the use of data and evidence in all the national agencies.
She holds a BSc in Economics, a BSc in Political Science and a Master’s in Public Policy (MPP) with Cum Laude distinction from Universidad de los Andes. Her master’s thesis was an impact evaluation about the effect of sports facilities in deprived neighbourhoods over crime rates, for which she received highest honours.
Estefanía’s current work includes consulting in the design of quantitative instruments and conducting program evaluations. Her research interests are crime prevention, poverty alleviation, ethnic and racial gaps, and inequality.
Outside of her studies, she is a rugby athlete and formerly represented her country in Rio 2016 Olympics. She is the vice-captain of the Oxford University Rugby Football Club (OURFC).
