Maya Richardson is studying for an MSc in Comparative Social Policy at St Cross College. She is interested in how social policy can be leveraged to create more just and equitable societies, especially within the fields of education, migration, and health. Her Master's thesis will focus on the financing of public education in the United States.Â
At Oxford, Maya has also deepened her interest in sustainability and resisting climate change by participating in the Oxford School of Climate Change, Green Recovery Now, and the Decarbonise Oxford Campaign.Â
Prior to joining the Department of Social Policy and Intervention at Oxford, Maya graduated with highest distinction from the University of California, Los Angeles. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Global Studies with a minor in History and completed an undergraduate thesis on the Rohingyan genocide in Myanmar. While at UCLA, Maya served as the Executive Coordinator of the Youth Empowerment Program and worked with organizations including the Health Equity Network of the Americas and the UC Women's Health, Gender, and Empowerment Center of Expertise.Â
