Mercy Muroki

Mercy is reading for a MSc in Comparative Social Policy and is a member of Jesus College. Prior to joining the department, she completed her BA in Politics at Queen Mary University of London. During this time, she received a number of awards for outstanding work including winning the Political Studies Association undergraduate essay competition (2018) in the parliaments category.

Her research interests are in the field of factors affecting social mobility and access to education for particularly marginalised and deprived groups in society. She is also interested in how political representation for such groups affects policymaking and has published work in The Political Quarterly Journal on political representation.

Previously, Mercy has worked in a variety of research roles within think tanks, universities, and charitable organisations. She is currently a columnist for The Times RedBox and an avid follower of current affairs.
