Selçuk Bedük's current research focuses on the conceptualization and measurement of poverty and well-being. His doctoral project evaluates the performance of exising material deprivation measures and searches for alternative ways to improve their design. Selçuk aims to pursue further research on the causes and consequences of poverty and disadvantage using observational data (e.g. poverty and mental health).
Selçuk holds a bachelor degree in Economics from Marmara University (Istanbul), an MSc degree in Social Policy Analysis from University of Lueven (IMPALLA program). He also previously completed the MSc course on Comparative Social Policy in the department before commencing his DPhil on Social Policy in 2013. Selçuk is the first Barnett Scholar of the department.
