Sarani Jayawardena

Sarani Jayawardena is a MSc student in Evidence Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation. Sarani strongly believes in the power of education and skills building to create long-lasting development while also delivering palpable benefit in the short term. Her Masters' thesis seeks to explore how technical and vocational education and training programs can improve labour market outcomes for youth in low- and middle- income countries, through a systematic review of the core intervention components and implementation characteristics of these programs. 

Sarani holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Harvard University, having graduated in 2017 Summa cum Laude with the distinction of being appointed to America’s most prestigious honour society, Phi Beta Kappa (PBK).She worked for a year for Sri Lanka’s State Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, during which time she co-facilitated the writing of the state’s economic policy outlook Vision 2025. She spent two years working as a Strategic Transformation Executive for the Group CEO of MAS Holdings, one of South Asia’s largest apparel manufacturers.
