Silvia Grothe i Riera

Silvia is a "La Caixa" fellow studying for the MSc in Comparative Social Policy. In 2020, she received her bachelor's degree in European Public Health from the University of Maastricht. Silvia completed a part of her academic training at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Silvia has a keen interest in European health policy and health inequalities, with a variety of experiences in these fields. Her past work includes interning at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety and working as a research assistant in various EU-funded projects on alcohol consumption among vulnerable populations. Alongside her studies, Silvia is an editor of the Oxford Graduate Inequality Review and part of the rowing team. Silvia’s thesis explores how the changes in the educational distribution in advanced welfare states can partly explain increasing levels of health inequality.
