Xavier is an MSc candidate in Comparative Social Policy. Prior to studying at Oxford, he completed a bachelor’s degree in Political Science at the Freie Universität Berlin. This included a year abroad at the University of Sussex, which he chose for its excellent reputation in Development Studies. Having grown up in Berlin with French and British parents, Xavier has a strong interest in European and International Relations. To pursue these interests, he has previously worked for the British Department for International Trade and interned at the German Foreign Office.
Xavier’s research interests lie in the social determinants of health, gender-critical thinking in social policy, and mental healthcare provision in Europe. He is also interested in food inequality and volunteers for the sustainable food network “Good Food Oxford” during his free time. Xavier’s thesis will explore how the characteristics of different welfare regimes determine access to mental healthcare in Europe.
Xavier is an active member of Green Templeton College’s choir and boat club.
