Mary Daly, Professor of Sociology and Social Policy at DSPI, has been elected President of the International Sociological Association’s Research Committee on Family Research (06, CFR). Extending globally, the purpose of the research committee is to encourage family research of high quality within and across countries and to enable fruitful exchange among scholars from different disciplines and national backgrounds. The Committee’s work is relevant to many aspects of the research and teaching activities of DSPI but especially the comparative approaches to family, children and gender.
Professor Mary Daly said: "This is a great honour for me and I am very grateful for the recognition and faith placed in me by my peers. I intend to use the position to raise the profile and extend the reach of the Research Committee as a focal point for critical research and theorising on families and family change."
