Elifcan is an interdisciplinary researcher with a background in Political Science, Social Policy and Economics. She works as a Departmental Lecturer in Comparative Social Policy at DSPI. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies and the University of Cologne. Prior to joining Oxford, she held positions at University College Dublin, Max Planck Institute, University of Cologne, Northwestern University and Bogazici University.
Her research sits at the intersection of comparative social policy and political economy. She conducts research on state-society relations in authoritarian contexts, gender and welfare state, and platformisation of health and social care services. She serves as an Associate Editor of New Perspectives on Turkey and in the Editorial Board of Journal of International and Comparative Social Policy.
