Departmental Lectures and Seminars

Each year the department organises series of seminars at which distinguished academics are invited to speak and present their work to the department. These seminars offer superb opportunities to hear from renowned international scholars, and to network with experts in the field. Visit our events page for information about upcoming seminars.

In addition, the department holds a weekly colloquium at which research groups based in the department present their work. These are a great opportunity to present material, network with staff and other students, and gain a broader understanding of research ongoing in the department.

The department holds an annual Sidney Ball Memorial Lecture, named in honour of the first chairman of the Barnett House Committee. Leading figures in social policy and intervention are invited to deliver these public lectures. More information and archives can be found on the Sidney Ball Memorial lectures page.
