Associate Professor invited to influential journal role

Dr Ben Chrisinger

Associate Professor of Evidence-Based Policy Evaluation, Dr Ben Chrisinger, has been named as an Associate Editor with peer-reviewed journal Preventing Chronic Disease (PCD).

The journal is produced by the US-based Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Ben has been invited to be as Associate Editor, where he will be producing articles and bringing subject matter expertise to the Board.

He said: ‘Serving as a peer reviewer for academic journals is something I've come to really enjoy as part of my career.

It's a great way to keep up with the latest research, including new methods and ideas, and helps me think more critically about how to give constructive feedback. I've reviewed for PCD for a few years, so it was exciting to be invited to formally join the journal's review and decision-making processes.’

Associate Editors help determine whether articles are ready for peer review; invite and assign peer reviewers, and make recommendations to the Editor in Chief on the basis of the peer review reports, among other things.

Ben added: ‘Though the journal is very focused on the United States, they are also interested in prevention efforts around the world. I am very happy to share my perspectives from DSPI and the UK.’
