Craig Carty

It is with great sadness we share the passing of Craig Carty. Our thoughts and condolences go out to Craig's family, and all who knew him.

A tribute from Professor Lucie Cluver:

Craig was a brilliant social scientist. He combined an exceptionally sharp intellect with a deep understanding of the social and emotional challenges that are experienced by vulnerable people in Southern Africa. He brought his empathy to all of his work, and his kindness, warmth and humour to all his friendships in the University and beyond. Craig loved to collect art - and found old maps of Oxford in antique stores, which are now on our team office walls to remind us of him. He adored his dogs, who gave him great joy. But above all, Craig cared for the young people whom his research and NGO work supported: he believed in them and the possibility of their lives becoming better. Craig will be very much missed by all of us.
