Yi Qie

Yi is a DPhil student in Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation. Her research interests span early childhood development, family wellbeing, and social interventions. She is particularly interested in how social and family environments shape children's development and wellbeing, and how evidence-based interventions and policies can better support children and families in underserved communities. Her broader research interests include digital health and the potential of digital and AI-enabled approaches to improve the accessibility and delivery of health and social interventions.

Her DPhil research examines parental migration and early childhood development in rural China, as well as the effectiveness of family-based interventions in supporting children's development. Her work seeks to understand variation in intervention effects and its implications for programme design, implementation, and scale-up.

Prior to starting her DPhil, Yi worked at a think tank conducting policy research on early childhood development in rural and underserved communities. She has over five years of experience working on family-based programmes in low-resource settings, including policy research, digital programme management, and programme implementation.

Yi holds an M.A. in Socio-cultural Anthropology from Columbia University and a B.A. in Management from Renmin University of China. Her DPhil research is co-supervised by Professor Jane Barlow (DSPI) and Professor Rachel Murphy (Oxford School of Global and Area Studies).
