Kathleen Murphy

Dr Kathleen Murphy is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Toronto’s Centre for Global Health, at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health. She is also a Lecturer at Dalhousie University’s School of Health and Human Performance. With over a decade of research, management, and policy experience, Kathleen bridges critical and applied participatory intervention research to understand and inform solutions for reducing family violence and improving the health and wellbeing of equity-deserving groups globally. Over the past seven years, she has spearheaded the participatory development, implementation, and evaluation of the Malezi Bora project, a programme of research to co-create parenting support with and for families in street situations in Kenya.

Kathleen received her doctorate in Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation at the University of Oxford as a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Doctoral Fellow. Her thesis focused on gendered and structural factors influencing men’s engagement in parenting support for families in street situations to reduce violence against women and children.
