Two new Professorships awarded at DSPI

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Jamie Lachman and David Humphreys as Professors for the 2024/25 academic year.

Professor Jamie Lachman will take up the role of Professor of Child and Family Global Health. He is the lead principal investigator of the Global Parenting Initiative and CEO and co-founder of Parenting for Lifelong Health. His research ranges across public health, psychology, and social work. It involves methodologies like human centred design, cultural adaptation, factorial experiments, effectiveness trials, implementation science, systematic reviews, and meta-analyses.

Professor David Humphreys will take up the role of Professor of Social Policy Evaluation. He is also a Research Fellow at Green Templeton College, as well as Associate Fellow at Nuffield College. Professor Humphrey's research spans several fields including criminology, social policy, public health, and epidemiology. His main area of interest focuses on the causes, consequences and prevention of injury, with a focus on interpersonal violence.

Head of Department Professor Jane Barlow said: “I am absolutely delighted to see the outstanding research, teaching and citizenship activities undertaken by both Jamie and David recognised with the conferment of the title of professor. This is a major achievement and very well deserved indeed."
