Costanzo Ranci is Full Professor of Economic Sociology at the Polytechnic of Milan, Italy. He is also the director of LPS Social Policy research Lab established in the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies of the Polyetchnic of Milan. He is co.funder and co-chair of the Transforming Care international research network.

He has served as a consultant for the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Italian government, the Italian Social Security Institute, the Lombardy Region, and many other institutions. He was visiting scholar at the University of California – Berkeley, the Universitad Autonoma of Barcelona, the University of Lausanne, Harvard University, the University of Vienna. He has published several books and scientific articles on topics such as welfare, social vulnerability, and long-term care policies. His current research focuses on the following topics: middle-class insecurity, social investment policies, long-term care policies, school segregation and inequalities.
