Ella Armstrong

Ella is studying for an MSc in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation, with a particular focus on finding evidence-based systemic approaches to breaking cycles of crime.

Ella’s experience lies in bringing together policy, practice, and research to generate positive systematic impact for children and families in contact with the law. Prior to her move to Oxford, Ella helped to conduct multiple mixed-method impact evaluations of various youth justice and mental health interventions inside and outside of custody settings. Ella is particularly passionate about advocating for evaluation methods which amplify researcher, practitioner, and policymaker perspectives alongside the often unheard voices of individuals and communities the policy or intervention aims to serve.

Beside her academic interests, Ella is a keen rower, singer, and enjoys weekly sessions supporting young people who have recently left prison to get back into education and employment.
