Dr Bridget Steele

Bridget's research agenda focuses on the structural causes of gender-based violence and the impact of gender-based violence on survivors' health and wellbeing with the aim of informing the design and evaluation of prevention and responses programmes and polices. 

 

Bridget is a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology at Dalhousie University, where she is working on the Interprovincial Violence Against Women Project. She currently leads, alongside Dr David Humphreys, the OUR SPACE research project on gender and sexual-based violence among higher education students. Bridget completed her DPhil in Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation at the University of Oxford.

 

She is a mixed-methods researcher with expertise in survey design and analysis, qualitative interviewing and analysis, and systematic review and meta-analysis.

 

Bridget currently sits on the advisory group task force for the Office of Students on measuring sexual violence in higher education. She also is involved in several global research collaborations on violence against women and children including projects with UNICEF and the Sexual Violence Research Initiative.
