Jinseo Kim

Jinseo Kim is a DPhil student in Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation. She has a Master of Science in Public Health Science and dual bachelor's degrees in public health and statistics, with a minor in philosophy from Korea University. Her research interests focus on understanding the impact of social determinants on early childhood experiences, particularly adverse childhood events, and their impact on long-term health. This includes exploring the influence of social norms and socioeconomic factors on child health, healthcare access, nutrition, development, and exposure to childhood violence.

While individual-level adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are well-established in their association with adverse health outcomes, limited attention has been given to neighbourhood-level adversity and its biological disruptions, creating a significant research gap. Therefore, her doctoral research seeks to address the impact of neighbourhood-level ACEs, particularly during critical periods, on common mental disorders (CMDs).

After completing her DPhil in Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation, she aims to continue research as an independent researcher, contributing to health policy that addresses health inequality, especially related to early childhood experiences.
